- Will be under 18 on October 26, 2026.
- Do not live in Richmond Hill and do not qualify as a property owner, tenant, or the spouse of an owner or tenant in the city.
The law also prohibits voting by:

- Anyone voting as an executor, trustee, or in another representative capacity.
- People prohibited from voting because of a conviction for a corrupt practice.
The restriction on executors and trustees concerns voting in a representative capacity, it does not remove an otherwise eligible person’s own vote.

Can I vote more than once if I own property in more than one location?
Not in the same municipality. Owning or renting several properties in Richmond Hill still gives you one vote in Richmond Hill’s election. If you don’t live in Richmond Hill and own or rent property in more than one ward, you choose one ward to vote in.
If you live in one Ontario municipality and personally own or rent property in another, you may be able to vote in both elections, once in each. Your spouse may qualify too. Property owned by a company or trust doesn’t count. Not sure? Check the rules in the Ontario Voters’ Guide.
School board trustees work differently. One school board often covers several towns — for example, York Region’s school boards serve Richmond Hill and its neighbours. So even if you can vote in two of these municipalities, you can vote for the same school board only once.
